eFootball PES 2020 Review
A timely overhaul that should take a great game to new heights – though it’s not quite on peak form this year. When I played PES earlier this year , the series’ global product and brand manager Adam Bhatti told me it was the first game of a three-year cycle; a new foundation upon which Konami’s looking to build. For better and worse, it feels like it. There are marked improvements in some areas, but PES’s overall game has weakened slightly from last year, like a side that’s spent big money recruiting three attacking midfielders during the close season while entirely failing to strengthen their back four.
Which isn’t to say it’s abandoned all the good work carried out in recent times.
The problem with PES is the colour and lighting of the on pitch The lag is minimal and the improved matchmaking means games are.

FIFA 15 is immediately slick, with clear menus and cool looking widgets and smooth transitions as you navigate the various options open to you. However with all of that said, PES does get some things very right, such as details around the field and the kits of the teams they have managed to secure licenses for such as Real Madrid and Manchester United.
Other than the fans, the stadium elements are also decent, with some variation between characters like the sideline photographers, soldiers and police. Is it cynical of me to also notice that the advertising hoardings displaying genuine brand ads look particularly polished and life-like? Anyway, back to the game. FIFA 15 is polished and comes complete with bells and whistles, but PES concentrates on gameplay, and for me does the better job of delivering a fluid gaming experience; tackles look extra tasty as well.
FIFA 15 — Player face comparisons. FIFA goes for pace, and is noticeably faster in its movement. Players feel almost weightless in comparison to PES. In some ways, FIFA is slightly more responsive making it easier to play Spanish tika-taka football, which will suit some gamer styles more than others.
Pro Evolution Soccer 2019 Review – A Great Game in Need of Fixing

Join Cultured Vultures as we bring you some of the biggest news from the world of wrestling. Fortnite pros are abusing the new skill-based matchmaking for kill records. For Season 11, Epic will be introducing bots to make the learning process that much easier. This is a great change — in principle. A switch to SBMM was a long time coming, then. Smurfing, in the simplest terms, is when a player creates a secondary account to circumvent some of the restrictions they may have on their primary, or to practice without impacting their stats.
These burner accounts can be harmless, as seen when Luke the Notable has to get through his ridiculous end of season challenges , but smurfs are now being used for rather unscrupulous kill records thanks to SBMM. Morally speaking, however, smurfing to farm kills and claim records is pretty objectionable for a couple of reasons. Fortnite is a tough enough nut to crack as it is, so coming up against World Cup competitors is only going be more offputting.
All games, even those as big as Fortnite, need casual players to survive and thrive. Epic already mentioned that they were introducing SBMM with the view of making it an iterative system with things likely to change over time, which means that they may be taking a look into smurfing if situations like these keep happening.
Perhaps some kind of IP restriction would work, but maybe players who ought to know better should restrict themselves first. Smurfing is a bannable offense. We see a bunch of negative behavior that occurs with smurfing and issues with gameplay integrity.

A multiplayer video game is a video game in which more than one person can play in the same game environment at the same time, either locally e. New Super Mario Bros. Wii or online over the internet e. World of Warcraft , Call Of Duty. Multiplayer games usually require players to share the resources of a single game system or use networking technology to play together over a greater distance; players may compete against one or more human contestants, work cooperatively with a human partner to achieve a common goal, or supervise other players’ activity.

With less frenetic gameplay and equal focus on defence and attack, PES has built a reputation for being a more considered take on the beautiful game. Can Konami iron out the niggles that have previously stopped those growing tired of FIFA from jumping ship? Is it still annoying to play as a team called FV Green Black in a kit that looks like it was designed by George at Asda?
And can we get to the end of this review without using the F-word too much? With Barcelona and Bayern Munich also already onboard, the game has three of the biggest clubs in Europe covered, so the addition of Italian perma-champions Juventus and their Allianz Stadium is a no-brainer. The TV-style camera angle is also a triumph, giving it a real feeling of authenticity without just plastering the screen with all the right graphics.
These names are, of course, all easily editable, although only Arsenal and Manchester United in England and Barcelona in Spain wear their proper kits. This is a more patient approach to football than you tend to get from a certain other game, with defences tougher to break down and goalkeepers hard to beat.

This means it’s likely an issue with EA’s servers. The official support account for EA tweeted “We are aware of connectivity problems with our games. We’ll keep you up to date on progress here. Thanks for your reports” shortly after players took to Twitter to voice their ire. Shortly after, however, the account tweeted that EA was also aware of issues logging onto help.
The help site crashing is likely due to the worldwide popularity of FIFA 20 – the problem appears to be affecting EA servers worldwide, as reports have come in from the US, UK, and other parts of Europe.
The “Pro Evolution Soccer” video game franchise doesn’t have the sales power of its On the flip side the 15 clubs with “PES” exclusive marketing partnerships are This is a problem for standard 1v1 online as well, which can go several minutes before the matchmaking is able to locate an opponent.
The quality of the football in PES was the closest to the days of the glorious six game run on PS2 well, PES was also great too , but there was a lot of room for further improvement. The input for passing was a little off, the edit mode of previous years was stripped back, the higher difficulties funnelled a lot of the character out of games and made teams too similar in tactics and abilities.
These are things that could be addressed and dealt with to lift the next iteration to the level of classic PES if further polish was applied and tweaks made. Even if some lazy sound and menu design choices take a touch of the magic out of it. The best things about any truly great PES are often the little moments during a match. Small details such as the way a player darts into space, how a keeper claws a goalbound header off his line or even the physical tussle between two players vying for the ball.
Lots of little touches that add up to a thoroughly pleasing whole. PES is chock full of them thanks to the excellently implemented physics of the Fox Engine bringing a better feeling of individuality to the stars of world football, and whoever plays for Chelsea. The animation is crisp and to the point, rather than being grandiose and overly elaborate in the way FIFA goes for.
As a result, each individual player has a greater impact when played in the right place as they evoke their real world counterparts so impressively and accurately. Never before has the art of making players fit a system been done so well in a videogame version of football. Equally if you were defending against that City lineup with the fragile Manchester United back four then you need the shield of Carrick and Schneiderlin or Schweinsteiger to counter the rampaging Yaya Toure and the trickery of Fernandinho and further stifle Bony.
Losing just one player can now have a monumental impact on the way you play. Picking big names for the sake of fitting them in can prove disastrous.
‘Pro Evolution Soccer 2018’ review: Still a champion on the pitch
In recent years the “Pro Evolution Soccer” series has delivered arguably the best pure gameplay experience within the sports video game genre. Those who prefer the gameplay of “PES” however may still find it good enough to compensate for the areas in which its lacking. What was already a brilliant playing game on the pitch has been made even better, with improved ability to retain possession and the ability to utilize numerous different body parts to control the ball.
Changes to set pieces have also enhanced the ability to capitalize on corners and free kicks.

Through it all though, the series has managed to gain a strong foothold in at least its core gameplay, something that hardcore fans will claim is the most important factor. PES has developed its own brand of football that diehards swear by, and executed on fleshing it out, while most of its other areas have been left rather stagnant.
With the latest iteration, the series has decided to change its name to eFootball PES , but it’s not some revelation or a new direction — just more of the same. As we’ve been saying over the years, PES solidified itself as the clear competitor to EA Sports FIFA, at least on the pitch, thanks to the realism-focused, tightly controlled and intricately complex simulation of the sport. And yet, rather than grow and advance with each year, there were times when the game had too many issues on the pitch — some things would get better, and yet some aspects would run into new issues.
This sadly continues to be the case for PES and its on-field product. On the positive side, it remains a game that tries to focus on realism and player physicality, instead of being mechanic or animation-based. That means controlling the players, the interaction with the ball, and the flow of the match is very dynamic, and getting a payoff can be truly elating. Hitting the back of the net after putting in some great plays around the midfield is as satisfying as it’s always been.
New this year are some dribbling styles, adjustments to shooting based on the player’s body position and posture, and tweaks to the one-touch systems. These refinements don’t make a world of difference, but rather provide players with additional options and a few new moments on the pitch. When it works, PES still provides some great footballing action, but sadly, as has been the case seemingly almost every year, things often spiral out of control for unknown reasons.
Sure, there are still occasional physics and animation glitches, but these happen in any sports game.
